Long Passage New York to Norfolk, Virginia = 294 nm

Story to be continued later today..

New York Harbor ... site of the Twin Towers from the New Jersey side.

Old Maritime Building in front of Liberty Landing Marina ... marble bathrooms ...

Grenn Lateral Buoy with bells ... not bad tune.

Lady Liberty ...

Various types of commercial vessels ...

Red Lateral Buoy with different bell ...

One of the many transporters that come and go from New York ... not sure what this one transports out to sea?

Another one about an hour later ... same design vessel as the one above ... not sure what they are rinsing out of the bilge/tanks.

Though the skies looked grey the wind and wave forecase looked promising for an overnight passage ... maybe even two nights.

Before we loose the light offshore I always go on deck and make sure everything is secure ... here I am performing that task on something that needed tying down.

The full moon rises ... nice bright night on the water.

Water water everywhere ....

... and of course dolphins.

We decided to press on for anotehr day and night but that would lead us to arrive into Norfolk at night (dark) and in a busy port like Norfolk that is not a good idea if not necessary. So we anchor for 4 hours, have a nap and be entertained by more dolphins.

... and we are off again ... a beautiful sunset just south of Ocean City, Maryland.

... more sunset.

Arrival in Hampton, Virginia ...

Now to work ... to rinse off all the salt from the last two days.

Until next time ...

  1. Lovely pictures and great to see and read about your adventures. You are steaming along at a great rate, tho those overnighters must be "interesting". Nice dolphin pictures, sunsets, food, places and people. ENJOY! xoxo R
