It's a glorious weather...sunny and warm with the wind, waves and current are all OK!!!

We are getting itchy to get further south .. today is the day .. From Southport, we leave 10:00 AM heading to Charleston, South Caroline, 130 nm, about 20 miles offshore. Why 10:00? High tide to go out the inlet of Southport and arrive at Charleston in the light at 7:00 AM on the flood of the high tide the next morning, going with the current out of both harbours.. especially when the arrival port is one of the busiest ports on the south eastern coast ...

John with the South Harbor Village Marina Dock master, get information how to get to town for shopping and spares.

Captain is busy working on deck while light in preparation for the long night heading to Charleston

Sunny..wind forecast to be from the North west, but in reality, from the South West

Spectacular sunset in the ocean
It's a quiet night for 10 hours and then the wind picking up just before sun rise in the morning and heading for the busy port traffic of Charleston, SC.

Saber Tooth looks pretty small beside on of these ... but they are very courtious and chat on the pilot channel on the VHF radio ... "suggesting" ways to stay out of the way ... :-)

Looked like 2 boats with 2 mast, a kind of catamaran

All boaters arrived Charleston Harbor Marina safely, excited and happily to be here. This is a nice place to rest for couple of days, waiting for the next weather window to move on again.

Tired having a stroll in the city. Beautiful city...historical city, many old buildings. Every building or house has their own story..there is a plague in front of the building to describe the story.
Charleston was founded in 1670. A good place to spend a holiday!!!

There are 180 churches in the city, the steeples pierce the skyline and inspired the nickname "Holy City"

Suprised to see this cobble stone roads as there is not much stone in these parts. Until learned that it was cobbled using the old balast stones that that British used to load their ships to sail to the new land before loading the ships to take back their cargo of Rice to the UK.

Captain got a new friend.
We had a horse drawn cart tour of the city

Back to Marina with special trolley served by the marina..we all Canadians..eeh!

Looks like "the little engine that could" ... and it did. We arrived at the boat safely and find ourselves very tired ... so a very early night for all boaters. Good Night!
