Get our mast back and on to New York..

mast stepping ... just watch how this is done ... all manual as the electrics got blown when they were under 4 feet of water (that is about 16 feet above high high tide).

Lucky Sean has young Tim working the hand crank ... it takes a lot of cranks to put up a 60' mast.

Sean lines it up ready to lower into place ... without breaking off the cabinets below eh Sean.

On our way down the Hudson ... Lafarge Cement facility ...

One of the many steel bridges over the Hudson ...

Tied up at the end of a long day ... on a dine and dock restaurant on the Hudson ...

On the patio ... Hope they have cold beer!

A light dinner ...

Up early to get a head start ... especially with favorable tides and currents ...

Boat speed by GPS of over 10 knots ...

... thugh we did not stop at 79th street they seemed to be full ....

... not sure if fog, low cloud or just pollution ... we will think positively.

the rebuilding of the towers ...

Dock side at Liberty Landing Marina ... one of the least expensive marinas in New York .. only $4/foot ... but gotta love the granite tiled bathrooms and posh cruisers lounge. Quite a change from PCHM back home.

... and parked right beside a Sabre Express Cruiser ... nice boat ... $$$$

More pictures as the sun goes down ...

Sort of a magical place to dine ...

NICE ....

Our view over dinner  ....

An after dinner walk to the water front of New Jersey ...

Where they have a memorial for those who died in the twin towers ...

Interesting architecture and quite striking ...

captain becomes the model again ...

the memorial walls lead to the rebuilding project ...

another picture of the model ...

The story ends for today ... tomorrow weather looks good for an overnight off shore passage to Cape May ... there are a couple of other boats traveling that direction as well ... we will see  the weather tomorrow ...

4 Days Passage from Lock 8 to Troy

With the mast down and strapped on deck we are ready to move on ... this time around through Oswego ... the name fits ... last time we were stuck here and renamed the town to be Os-we-no-go ...

Gotta keep the crew healthy and from mutiny ... so we eat a couple of times a day. When it has been a long day ... we treat ourselves ...and there are many places in Oswego to do that ...

Historic Oswego ... there are a bunch of really beautiful towns on the south shore of Lake Ontario.

This is after our first day on the canal ... we made it to Brewerton and were up at first light to start our passage accross the shallow Oneida Lake. With the mast on deck you do not want to chance loosing it.

We travelled for a couple of days with s/v Moya Mreeya built by an OBBC member our yards at Royal Windsor Drive ... small world.

Saber Tooth mast all strapped down.

Safely in the canal after the Lake crossing.

Was a long day in finding safe stopping place. We arrived at Lock 18 at dusk. We were really happy to be there.

The next morning ... a heavy fog was all about. We had planned on doing some maintenance this morning anyway ...

Fog hung around until 9:30 ...

... so captain was put to work .. rudder stuffing box was leaking... replaced the stuffing while waiting for the fog. Do not want a leaky boat do we ADMIRAL.

The Canal crew boats were taking the day off ... or something. This canal system is really awesome with so many places to see along the way. One of these times we will have to spend some time in these waters.

Going down ... 40 feet to be exact .. the deepest lock on the system.

That is a lot of water those gates are holding back ... ain't engineers great ;-)

This lock has a vertical gate on the down stream side ... you get wet when the boat goes under.

Country side along the way ...

One hing you can count on is changing weather ... really nice one day then just nice the next ... keeps us on our toes.

Local Dwelling? Possibly summer fishing hu

Locks going down to Waterford and Troy ... only 30 feet ... going down.

... and the doors open.

Bye Bye Port Credit

It's hard to believe we are leaving Port Credit September 19, 2012, 14:30..finally!

No check list  to be checked..just go. Ed came to say good bye, had lunch at the Harp..and.. a  send- off gift by Jullie and Dave waited on the cockpit..

It's cold, 17degrees..cloudy,  4-6 knot of wind..

We aimed straight to south-east, since start midnight the wind will build up from the south, 20 knot with 6ft of wave and lumpy, windy and uncomfortable passage along north shore.

Bye bye Port Credit

Heading Sounth East to get accross the lake before the "rollers" come in from the forecasted 20 kn wind from the south.

Too tired to get better place to sleep

Beautiful sunset in the lake Ontario

10:00 AM, September 20

Captain John looked tired..

Here we are..Oswego!

Checkin in with Immigration ... we think ... there are so many  organizations down here looking out
for the borders ... including Canada.
