Everyday is another beautiful day in the Bahamas..

We spend a night anchor in Black Point and before continuing down to Georgetown about 45 miles. We were motoring all the way, the light wind came from the nose. So many boats went down same direction like us and so many boats came up opposite direction and guess what ... most of them are Canadians.

Following out of the anchorage by about 1 hour are Amazing Grace and Ajaya..we overheard the conversation on 16, Ajaya who lost their dinghy when the rough weather a week ago received the news from another boat..they found the dinghy..oh boy..sounds like a small ocean, in a small world.

Sunset, always stop you to do things..enjoy the sun goes down and to end that day you have to blow the conch horn ... still trying to get the admiral practiced on the sundown horn ...

Can never decide which picture to put here ... so here is another sunrise in Black Point.



A good day to start a day, before 8:00 we were in our cruise to Georgetown, through Dotham Cut. The rock formation is typical in the Exumas, where the waves have erroded and undercut the cliffs. Particularily on the Exum sound side (east side of the island chain).

Some boaters were worried this was the begining of a water spout ...





The breaking surf at the entrance of Emerald Bay Marina, Sandles Resort. The swells were about 10 feet with a 3 foot wave over that ... so from time to time you find yourself looking at a 12-14 wave ... once that wave energy comes ashore in the shalower water it comes up into these breaking waves ... the ones the surfers love ... as long as they are on to a "soft shore" ...

The Harbor offices and mariners lounge on the second floor overlooking the harbor ...  can sit here in Airconditioned facilities and write BLOGs ... :-) 



The Harbor entrance ... narrow and exposed to the typical easterly swells and blows that each time a system goes through causes some anxiety with boaters coming or leaving ...



On walkabout ... we rented a car with Georgia-E (Stew and Karen) for the day ... drove through the island and this is the monumnet to a local slave, Pompey who fought for the right of slavery

Weather Window is good to continue south, we leave Staniel Cay heading south to Black Point

Greenstone, Bob and Judy show features of the Gearge Towm harbor ... we had gathered at the Bar at Staniel Cay yesterday afternoon to have an afternoon snack and some refreshments.

Our departure from Big Majors ... Greenstone and Jubilee ... 

Jubilee, Bill and Judy who are also very active in the Great Lakes Cruising Club.

Gethsemane Church, few houses west from Rockside Laundry. We tied the dinghy right in front of Rockside.

It's very friendly place, you can drop your garbage at the main pier, give donation as you want into the white box, free water..

Some of the Black Point Community we met at church this morning Mr. Right and his son.

Here is Saber Tooth, anchor at Black Point, quater mile to Dotham Cut, access to Exuma Sound. Dotham Cut to Conch Cay Cut  is 46 nm

The Captain makes sure that the boat is OK while we are on the shore.

Staniel Cay - Geoffrey's Birthday Celebration Day

March 2 - Geoffrey was another year older. Crew aboard Greenstone was another year older today and we were asked to join them in the celebration. Then when the Admiral commented that March was her Birthday Month ... well you know what happened ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF AND NORA ... though I am sure Nora will make this a Birthday Month! In the Bahamas ... not too shabby!

The "Galley Slave" ... you can come out only when everything is on the table!

OK Bob ... quick before all the wax adds another layer of icing on the cake ... lead paint and all!

The Birthday people (those getting another year older) blow the candles ...

OK Geoffrey ... here comes the hard part ...

 

The next morning we all go to Staniel Cay to see Geoff and Jean into the Limo on the way to the Staniel International Airport

The CREW ... a great time had over the last almost four weeks ... time flies when you are having fun. 

The Limo with the Moon Roof and Air Conditioning ... Geoff and Jean go in style!

And then there were two ... on Greenstone.



Someone has lost their master ... but around here no one can go far ... unless they are great swimmers!

It's only a few miles away, we are in other paradise spot, sampson Cay

We need fuel and water..the closest and possible place is Sampson Cay, so we let go the mooring ball and off to Sampson Cay Club..



Not sure with the depth but..we make it, Cambridge Cay

Leaving Warderick Wells Cay (Exuma Park Headquarters) destination to Cambridge Cay. We were a bit hesitate to see the chart of Cambridge Cay especially the part to round the tip of Bell Island but we will follow Greenstone so they will see first before us ... and another mooring in Paradise awaits... Cambridge Cay.

Not a long distance on the Exuma Banks. These banks extend south of Nassau down almost 200 miles ... almost witht he next deep water is at Cuba ... but we are not going that far! So a short day traveling 15 nm to Cambridge Cay. Note that all land islands are called "Cays" not Islands as we typically see.
